We all need an outlet of some kind, and for Audrey Pickett, that outlet is working out. A member of the YMCA in Hannibal, Missouri, she hits the gym with the spirit of someone who won’t let something like a wheelchair slow her down.
Who Is Audrey Pickett?
“I have lived on my own for 12 years, and in order for me to continue living on my own, I have to keep my upper body strength up,” she explained.
But there’s more to the YMCA for her than just a means of maintaining her strength and her health. It’s also a place for her to be herself.
“This whole place to me is an escape,” Audrey said. “It’s my home away from home. If I have a bad day I can come here and forget about it. I may have to do things differently, but I’m not being looked at differently.”
Dreamscape & YMCA Hannibal Working Together
After hearing Audrey’s story, Dreamscape Foundation is working with the Missouri-based YMCA and Audrey in order to raise funds for her to receive 12 one-on-one sessions from a personal trainer who can create a custom workout routine to help Audrey reach her physical goals.
To reach her financial goal, we’re collaborating with Twitch streamer Vipershere for a 2-day charity stream December 7 and 8 to raise funds toward this goal. During this event, he will be playing Epic Games’ globally popular online game, Fortnite.
The perks are as follows:
- Donations of $10: Dreamscape Foundation will send you a branded t-shirt
- Donations of $20: Dreamscape Foundation will send you a branded t-shirt for your donation and enter you to win a copy of “Warner Bros Fortnite: Deep Freeze Bundle”.
- Donations of $50: Dreamscape Foundation will send you two branded t-shirts for your donation, plus entry into a drawing to win “Fortnite - Deluxe Founder’s Pack” and a Twitter shoutout from Dreamscape.
One hundred percent of all donations given to this campaign will go directly toward the purchase of a 12-pack of individual training sessions for Audrey, which she can redeem at her local YMCA.
