At the heart of Dreamscape Foundation’s mission is the desire to make life accessible for everyone. We’ve rooted our cause around this desire because we’ve seen firsthand how it transforms lives.
While every donation we receive goes to this cause in some way, shape, or form, we want to give our supporters a way to directly impact a person in need. All donations made to this campaign will go to funding equipment for blind or low vision individuals in order to ease the challenge of daily activities.
From reading emails, books, and web pages to enjoying a movie or writing text, your donations will go directly into purchasing accessibility technology for individuals who need them.
Many of these people are students. On average, 12.9% of all students have a disability, and without the proper accessibility, their education and their prospects are inhibited. We aim to change that and you can, too, when you make a donation to this campaign.
What is Accessibility?
Accessibility refers to how usable a product, service, environment, or device is to someone with a disability. Accessibility touches nearly every aspect of our environment, from the storefronts and offices we visit to the technology we use on a daily basis.
Why Does Accessibility Matter?
When we don’t create products, services, or locations with accessibility in mind, we inhibit or bar the disabled community from being able to utilize them. Imagine not being able to board a bus, enter a building, read, or even use your phone because of a physical impairment. This is a reality for many everyday individuals without technology and adaptations available to compensate for their disability.
What are the Tools You Provide to Disabled Individuals?
There are multiple tools available on the market today to help blind or low vision individuals complete everyday tasks. When you donate to this campaign, you help us purchase products like Jaws, Zoomtext, Movie Magnifiers, CCTV, eSight, Braille Writer, and other accessibility tools that make everyday tasks easier for the vision impaired.
How Do You Find People to Donate This Technology To?
Dreamscape Foundation often works alongside schools to assess and meet the needs of students struggling with accessibility challenges. However, we also work with individuals who reach out directly to our organization or who are brought to our attention through other means.
I am trying to find funds to help my daughter who is legally blind. I have a recommendation from her Eye Dr.. She recommends the Seeing Eye app that is only available on the Apple phone. This app speaks to the owner describing medication instructions, recipes, anything written. At this time she uses a heavy magnifier whose battery has to be replaced every six months in California.
I would be happy to send you the recommendation from her eye Dr.
Thank you.
