Twitch streamer Ladybones may project spooky vibes with her Twitch handle and her love for all things Halloween and horror, but there is nothing dark about her channel – or her personality. In fact, she is a member of Project Kindness, a stream team whose members actively use their channels to raise funds for charities.
Ladybones researches every charity prior to supporting them, then uses her channel as an opportunity to not only raise money for the organizations, but also to raise awareness. During her events, she makes it a point to talk about the organization’s mission to her community, and possibly other content creators. To her, the “why” behind the “what” these events represent is important, and she wants her viewers to understand exactly what their monetary donations help achieve.
LadyBones’ Passion for Charity and Desire to Promote Accessibility
Since Ladybones began streaming in 2019, she knew she wanted to use her platform to promote charities. Volunteer work was something that was an important part of her life off-screen, and so it only felt natural to bring it with her to Twitch as well.
“Charity months are my favorite months,” she said. “It’s always nice to be super interactive with the community, and spread awareness about all the organizations.”
As a college student living with her parents, Ladybones confessed that she didn’t have a lot of expenses. Thus, she wanted to put the money she earned from her stream to good use.
“Since I’m in a situation where money wasn’t an issue, I could turn that focus towards organizations that actually needed money, and could use that help,” she explained.
This month, Ladybones plans to conduct a two-week long charity stream campaign in order to raise funds for and awareness of Dreamscape Foundation’s mission. Even without a disability, she knew that there was an accessibility gap that needed to be addressed – and she felt compelled to help spread the word.
“I think that accessibility should be everywhere,” she said. “It’s kind of ridiculous that it’s not. There are so many establishments that don’t have easily accessible anything for people with disabilities, whether it be ramps or elevators. It doesn’t seem to be a very popular topic that a lot of people care to pay attention to. And they should, because there are people everywhere that deal with this.”
Join Ladybones in Raising Funds and Awareness for Dreamscape Foundation
Ladybones will be raising funds for Dreamscape Foundation’s mission on her Twitch channel from August 15 to August 29. Her hope is to raise between $250-$500 for our organization by the end of the two-week event.
Participants will be able to use their donations to trigger certain actions on stream, as well as win a variety of prizes, from redeemable in-game loot codes to physical gifts, like t-shirts.
