Jade Brings a New Creative Style to Dreamscape’s Next Charity Stream
As we prepare for our next Dreamscape Charity Stream, we are proud to announce a first and new twist on our typical event! On Saturday, June 1st, we will be teaming up with Twitch Streamer and artist Jade (PaintWithJade) for a 12-hour long stream, to raise money for the young students at Whispering Forest Elementary. From 10am-10pm, Jade will be demonstrating her true talents on the canvas. Just coming off her first ever showing in a gallery, she is excited to create a piece with a deep level of meaning. To Jade, “it always feels good as an artist when you are able to create something that represents something or has a greater meaning to it.”
So, who is Jade you ask?
Jade is a young woman, who has always had a passion for art and helping those in need. While attending college, she had plans of becoming a nurse and looked forward to being able to make a difference in someone’s life. But one day, Jade was involved in an accident that left her hospitalized for over a month. Diagnosed with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), she can no longer work and has lost her dream of becoming a nurse, has found a new passion and way to make a difference. Using her art, she can tell stories and express feelings in a way that everyone can relate to based on their own imagination. Having never painted prior to the incident, she found herself with a lot of free time on her hands and figured, “why not give it a chance”. But where to begin? She turned to Netflix and discovered the infamous Bob Ross! While he makes it look like a walk in the park, adding a “happy little tree” isn’t easy. But none the less, she fell in love with it.A Way to Stay Accountable
Jade knew the only way to get better was to keep practicing and trying new techniques. She needed a way to keep herself accountable and started contemplating ideas. She knew Twitch was well known for people streaming video games, so why not painting? With a set stream schedule, she knew she would have to dedicate that time to practice. Jade joked, saying at first she thought she had invented creative streaming until she went on Twitch and saw there was an entire art category! Streaming had another added benefit for Jade. Since she was housebound due to her injury, she didn’t have much social interaction. Now she had a whole community of streamers and viewers she could interact with! So for Jade, Twitch streaming started as a way to practice her art and has since then become a passion of its own.Teachers and Faculty on a Mission
Whispering Forest Elementary is a Pre-K through 3rd-grade school in Louisiana. With many first time students and children both abled and disabled, the faculty at Whispering Forest have been planning the creation of a sensory room. The sensory room will be used to help children settle themselves and feel safe. Having roughly 565 students this school year, there are children of all different needs who can benefit from this type of accommodation. Seeing as no individual’s needs are the same as others, having a place equipped to handle any need or situation is a must! But for Whispering Forest, it goes further than just helping their own students. They hope to be a model for other schools in their area. By setting an example, they hope other schools will follow and implement sensory rooms of their own. Their goal is to make learning a happy and fun experience for all students.Our Way of Saying Thanks!
